NEOS Libraries

NEOS is a group of Alberta libraries that share resources with one another. It includes academic libraries, like the UofA and MacEwan, it does not include public libraries.

What can NEOS do for me?

Staff, students and faculty of any NEOS member library may borrow from other NEOS libraries.

How do I request a book or article that I want from another NEOS library?”

Watch the videos below to learn how to access resources from other NEOS libraries. If the book you want is available, it can be sent to Concordia for you to borrow. Articles and single chapters are typically sent for download via email.

Can I go to another NEOS library and borrow books?

Yes! You must bring your current student or staff ID card to the checkout. There are some exceptions, for example Local Loan or Reserve items, that cannot be loaned to CUE borrowers. Ask CUE Library staff or contact the other library to confirm whether or not the item you want is available.

Register for an L-Pass

Public Libraries are not members of the NEOS library system.

Current CUE students & employees can register their CUE ID card as an L-Pass in order to use digital and print resources from the many branches of the Edmonton Public Library (EPL).

  • Watch the L-Pass video below to learn how to register.
  • If you live in Edmonton and have proof of address, you can get a regular EPL card free online (instead of an L-Pass).

Why should Education students get an L-Pass or an EPL card?

  • A large collection of free children's materials, in multiple languages and reading levels, both digital and in print.
  • Multiple copies of the same items, making it easier for more people to borrow them.
  • Streaming & downloadable ebooks, audiobooks, newspapers, magazines and videos accessible in many formats.
  • Unique non-print resources like 3-D printing, online on-demand classes, video games, and homework help.
  • Events, activities, and guest speakers on cutting edge topics.
