Open Access Publishing

CUE participates in a number of transformative agreements as a member of the Canadian Research Knowledge Network (CRKN) that provide waivers and/or discounts on article processing charges (APCs) in certain open access journals.

Authors are eligible for a $250 USD discount for all American Chemical Society hybrid journals.

The APC discount is applied upon acceptance of a manuscript. Authors must indicate their institutional affiliation upon submitting their manuscript in order to benefit from the discount.

CUE is a participating member institution in the CRKN agreement to receive a waiver for APCs in over 1,800 Elsevier Hybrid journals.

Authors publishing in Elsevier's Gold Open Access journals are eligible for a 15% discount on their APCs in 2025 and 2026, and a 10% discount in 2027.

Author's must indicate their institutional affiliation upon submitting their manuscript in order to benefit from the waiver or discount.

CUE is a participating member institution in the CRKN agreement to receive a waiver for APCs for Oxford University Press (OUP) Hybrid journals and a 10% discount on APCs for OUP Gold Open Access journals.

Corresponding authors must indicate their institutional affiliation up submitting their manuscript in order to benefit from the waiver/discount.

CUE is a participating member institution in the CRKN agreement to receive a waiver for APCs for SAGE Choice Hybrid Open Access journals.

Corresponding authors publishing in SAGE Gold Open Access journals are eligible to receive an automatic discount of 40% on APCs.

CUE is a participating member institution in CRKN's agreement to receive a 25% discount on APCs for Taylor & Francis Open Select hybrid journals.

Authors should select the Open Access Publishing option when submitting an article, and then select their affiliated institution from the drop-down menu when the APC quote is generated. The APC discount will be automatically applied.

CUE is a participating member institution in CRKN's agreement to receive a 10% discount on APCs for Wiley Gold Open Access journals.

Corresponding authors publishing in Wiley Hybrid Open Access journals are eligible to receive an APC waiver for 100% of the cost.
